Corn Fireplace

Can you burn black walnuts in a fireplace or wood stove (not the wood, but the walnuts themselves)?

There are tons of them around. They burn well in a charcoal bbq. I wonder if they can be used in a high efficiency wood stove? I've seen stoves which burn corn, so that got me wondering.

  1. I burn all kinds of stuff in my wood stove, Be careful with walnuts, don't put too many in at a time and don't leave them unatended very long. They burn very hot and could get out of control.
  2. I don't really know. I'd be willing to bet those outdoor stoves would be able to handle them. You can burn anything in those things, even garbage! I hope you get some good answers because if you can, I'm going to try it! I've got plenty of those black walnuts around, but never thought aobut burning them in the woodstove! Good luck!
  3. don't see why not. i burn hickory nuts and acorns and pine cones in mine.
