Are solid fuel cast iron stoves inferior to steel stoves? And is 5mm steel plates in a stove sufficent?
Which kind of solid fuel stove will last longer, steel or cast iron stoves? I,v heard that cast iron stoves can be bulked and damaged quicker then steel stoves. From experience does any body want to comment?

- Welded steel wood stoves work very well, and do not require the maintenance that cast iron stoves do, like seals at the joints. I've owned 3 steel stoves ( 2 Fisher and 1 DeVaullt ) and loved them all.
- Cast iron heat quicker, and broadcast the heat more evenly, as well as they hold heat longer than steel does...I prefer cast iron...same as cooking..cast iron cookware cook foods more evenly and holds the heat at a steady temperature better than a stainless steel pan..sure the maintnence is a little higher, but they last longer, perform better, and distribute heat better and use less solid fuel
